In March, The Radclyffe School welcomed students, families, staff and guests for its second annual Iftar, bringing the community together to share food, conversation and learning during the holy month of Ramadan.
The evening began with reflections from Head Teacher Mr Cregg, who spoke about how understanding and appreciating different cultures and beliefs connects strongly with the school’s values of Respect, Excellence and Kindness. Students and guests then enjoyed a programme that celebrated faith, knowledge and community.
Year 11 students performed beautiful nasheeds, while Mr Islam shared the significance of the Qur’an and its importance in the lives of Muslims. Guests also heard from Dr Kamal Khan, a master Qāri’, who spoke about the sacredness of knowledge and the important contributions Muslims have made throughout history.
Following prayers, the fast was broken together. Many non-Muslim members of staff joined students in fasting during the day, making the moment even more meaningful as everyone gathered to share a three-course meal and drinks. The evening was filled with laughter, conversation and a strong sense of community.
The school extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped organise the event and to all those who attended. Evenings like this highlight the power of learning from one another and celebrating together as a community.
