Each Awarding Body publishes procedures for appeals against its decisions, and the Exams Officer will be able to advise students and parents/carers of the procedures.

Where a student is unhappy with the grade awarded for a particular exam, a clerical check or review of marking may be requested. The student will be required to acknowledge that his/her grade may be confirmed; raised or lowered and will be responsible for paying the relevant fee. The decision as to whether to support such an enquiry will be made by the school based on several factors, including knowledge of the exam system and professional judgement. Appeals may only be made against the processes that lead to the assessment and not against the mark or grade submitted by the centre moderation.

The Awarding Body will confirm the outcome of each enquiry together with a reason for the decision of a review of marking. If the mark is changed, the reason will be either that an administrative error has occurred or there was a marking error.

An appeal against the Awarding Body’s decision can only be made by The Radclyffe school’s Head of Centre.
